The Play Awakening Repatterning:
Reclaiming Your Natural Joy

Monday June 23 2025 at 3:30-4:300PM Eastern
[12:30pm Pacific | 1:30pm Mountain | 2:30pm Central | 8:30pm London UK]
You know the feeling you get when you're absorbed in something fun? When you lose track of time because you're just... playing?
That's not just a happy accident – it's your brain and body working together in perfect harmony. When we let ourselves be playful, our bodies actually produce feel-good chemicals like endorphins while lowering stress hormones. We give ourselves a natural mood boost.
If you observe children, you realize that kids don't need a reason to play, they just do it because it feels good. But somewhere along the way to adulthood, many of us got the message that we needed to be "serious" to be taken seriously. But here's the thing: research shows that keeping that playful spirit alive actually helps us handle life's serious stuff better.
When we stay connected to our playful side, we're more likely to bounce back from setbacks. Instead of getting stuck in negative thinking, playful people tend to look at challenges differently. They might think, "Well, that didn't work – what else could I try?" rather than "I failed." Playful people approach problems with a more flexible, creative mindset and open up new possibilities.
Being playful also helps us connect with others in meaningful ways. Whether we're sharing a laugh, playing a game, or just being silly together, these moments build stronger relationships. Play doesn’t have to be formal to work its magic – maybe it's trying out a new recipe, doodling during a boring meeting, or dancing while doing housework. These little moments of play can transform ordinary experiences into something special.
The best part? We don't have to force it. Many of us are already playful in our own ways – we might just not call it "play." Maybe you lose yourself in gardening, get excited about solving puzzles, or love making up stories. These are all forms of adult play, and they're doing wonderful things for our wellbeing.
When life gets heavy (and let's face it, it often does), having this playful foundation helps us cope. It's like having an emotional safety net that reminds us not everything has to be intense or serious all the time. We can take breaks, find moments of joy, and approach challenges with curiosity instead of dread.
So maybe it's time we gave ourselves permission to be more playful. Not because it's productive or practical (though research shows it is), but simply because it makes life more enjoyable. After all, isn't that what we're here for – to experience life in all its colors, including the bright, playful ones?
Remember: being playful isn't about avoiding responsibility – it's about bringing more joy and resilience to everything we do. And in today's world, couldn't we all use a little more of that?
